Join our 3rd Stage Group Guitar Lessons with no long-term commitment for ages 8 to Adult and Families! Friendly group instruction with a family atmosphere taught by Mark W. Batchelder since 2008. Learn by playing songs. Parents are encouraged to participate with or to assist their children. Kids, Teens, Adults, and Seniors are all welcome! |
Drop In Jam sessions are held with the 3rd Stage Group Guitar Lessons classes. The exact dates and starting times will vary. Please call Mark Batchelder at 682-233-1692 to confirm.
Participants must provide their own guitar. Guitars may be either acoustic or electric with an amplifier. Bass guitars are also welcome.

Drop In Jam offers you a chance to learn and practice your guitar skills in a fun and friendly jam session with our 3rd Stage Group Guitar Lessons
Drop In Jam and 3rd Stage will: Give participants a chance to play with a group Be an ongoing and evolving program which encourages participants to attend as many times as they like Cover all the concepts introduced in the Beginner and Next Step courses - plus more Focus on playing songs including rock, blues, folk, and country Introduce and teach songs suited to the group Encourage participants to suggest other songs for the group Assist participants at different skill levels to play different parts together: rhythm, bass lines, soloing, etc. Help participants develop stage presence and confidence in performing in front of a group Use open chords, power chords, and barre chords Cover major and minor pentatonic scale patterns for playing melodies and solos in rock, country, and blues styles Use movable shuffle patterns for rock and blues Discuss how to find and play songs on the internet and how to find free guitar information and music resources on the internet Include 12-bar blues and other chord progressions Develop strumming, picking, and muting techniques Introduce improvising and "comping" Include practical music/chord theory including the Nashville number system and transposing music keys Discuss bass guitar basics and using amps and effects |
